Back From the Ranch...

So let's see if Blogger will let me post anything now. I haven't been able to in the last few days. I had a whole little schpiel worked out for you guys, and everything, but I keep getting booted, so hopefully this time, this ONE TIME, I will be successful.

So I spent a week out at the Box R Ranch, in Wyoming, riding horses and drawing (what's new, save the location?). I have to apologize for the not-so-great scans of these sketches: they're all in a wee book that doesn't lay flatly when I scan, so as a result I've had to crop and clean up and sharpen here and there, and frankly it doesn't thrill me, but it gives me SOMETHING to show. So here are a few this and thats, horse rears and whatnots...hope you enjoy :-) --L

Some Self-Portraits

I was inspired by Erin to do some Photoshop work...on myself. I usually resort to self-portraits when I need to kick myself into gear and get drawing again. This is just a little three-tone sketch, a la John Clapp/Glen Vilppu.

New Stuff, Finally

So I've finally gotten out to do a little drawing. It's been amazingly hot, and when I haven't been working, I've been sleeping, or trying to cool off at the pool. Nonetheless, I do have stuff to post for you! Some of these are on the old side, from the 4th of July, and some are more recent. So here are lots of new pages of drawings for all you cool people who look at my blog :-). --L These are "housing" designs for horses, primarily based on what I found in reference for Medieval England. I initially started doing visual development for A Rose For the Crown , a novel set in 15th century England, but then I found out my employer has entered me in the "Halloween Poker Ride," which means costumes for me and my horse. I'll likely do something far more simple, but I wanted to play around and explore the possibilities, so here are some fun little sketches, followed by some even more fun little sketches of naked horses. (Eek!) Some Downtowners from the 4th of July... I felt like these one day, trying to get my car fixed...

Downtowners

Here are some downtown SJ sketches. I used to hate doing these on-location drawings, but now I kindof like it. The crazy thing is that the people are often wackier than my drawings of them...:-)
